Glückwunsch mein Bruder, Du bist der Beste.
Freu mich sehr, Dich im Januar zu sehen.

RICHMOND, Va. – Junior forward Sebastian Haensel (Univ. of Leipzig/Leipzig, Germany) of Towson University has been named as the Colonial Athletic Association Men’s Soccer Player of the Week for the week ending November 6, it has been announced by CAA officials.

For Haensel, the award marks the third time this season that he has been honored as the CAA Player of the Week. He is one of only two players in the CAA to earn the award more than once.

Haensel was also named as the CAA Player of the Week on September 6 and October 3.

The third-leading scorer in the CAA with ten goals and four assists, Haensel scored his most dramatic goal of the season on Friday. With 12 seconds remaining in the second overtime period against George Mason University, he scored the game-winning goal in a 1-0 win. The win enabled the Tigers to snap a five-game winless streak and earn the sixth and final seed in the CAA Tournament. A tie would have eliminated the Tigers.

Haensel’s tenth goal of the season came off a corner kick by senior Mike Dougherty (Mount St. Joseph’s H.S./Reisterstown, Md.) and a head pass by junior Andrew Marshall (Centennial H.S./Columbia, Md.). It was his fourth game-winning goal of the season and his second overtime goal. Six of his goals were scored in CAA games.

Now 10-5-3 overall, the Tigers open play in the CAA Tournament on Tuesday evening at James Madison University. The winner of tonight’s game advances to the CAA semi-finals on Friday at Old Dominion University. Second-seeded Hofstra, which has a first round bye, will play the Towson-JMU winner while top-seeded Old Dominion faces the winner of the first round match between Virginia Commonwealth and UNC Wilmington.

The CAA championship game will be played on Sunday, November 13 at 2:00 p.m. at ODU.
